Documents signed one by one — October 2026

Signature requests with several documents are now signed one document at a time. This applies to STANDARD signature requests with more than one document. Single-document requests, seals, M2M seals, bare signatures, signer setup and approvers keep one swipe for every document.

What the signer sees

• Each swipe signs the document on screen. Signed documents are marked in the document list, and the signer moves on to the next document to sign.
• Sign the N remaining documents together signs every remaining document with one swipe, after a confirmation that lists them.
• Finish, at the top right, appears once at least one document is signed. After a confirmation that lists them, the documents not signed are cancelled and the signer sees a summary. Nothing more can be signed from the link.

What your integration receives

• A signer's signatures can arrive over several swipes and sessions, so their SIGNATURE webhooks are no longer sent together.
• When a signer finishes with documents left unsigned:
  • those documents move to a new signature request, created CANCELLED, whose initialSignatureRequestId is the original signature request. Its SIGNATURE_REQUEST / CANCELLED webhook carries initialSignatureRequestId and no signatureRequestExternalId: match it on initialSignatureRequestId, not on your external id;
  • the original signature request keeps the signed documents, so its documentIds gets shorter. It completes once every signer is done, and its proofs are generated and sent as usual, for those documents only;
  • the other signers no longer see the cancelled documents. A signer who had already signed all the remaining documents is done.
• Embedded integration: SIGNATURE_FINALIZED (handleSignatureSessionFinalized in @ignisign/ignisign-js) is sent once per signer, after their last document or after Finish, not after each document.

Keeping one swipe for every document

Set signDocumentsTogether: true on the signature request (updateSignatureRequest, typed in @ignisign/public 4.3.0 and @ignisign/sdk 4.3.0), or switch on Sign all documents with a single swipe in the console, in Create a Signature › Advanced Settings.

Signature requests created with one-call-sign cannot set it yet.
